Notices

There will be a Heaven@11 5th birthday party on Sept 5th in St Peter's hall after the service. Please bring and share some food. Hopefully a list is available to show what food people might bring.

St Mary’s Patronal Festival Weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday 11-12 September. There will be an open Afternoon on the Saturday with a Community barbecue, tours, cakes and more. On the Sunday there will be a Parish Sung Eucharist at 10.30 followed by buffet lunch.

There will be a sponsored walk in support of Daybreak on Saturday 18th September in Richmond Park. The distance could be either a Marathon or mini-marathon – the choice is yours. Sponsorship forms are available from the Parish Office or a Daybreak Volunteer/Trustee who can also provide more details. The Daybreak office is open on Tuesdays: 01784 451395

There will be a Harvest Barn Dance on September 18th from 7pm until 10.30pm at St Peter's church hall. It has been promised that there will be fun for all ages including the chance to learn how to dance with instruction from Barrie Bullimore. Tickets will be available soon from Church Wardens!

Staines Brass Band will be celebrating 80 years of bringing first class brass music to the people of Staines at their anniversary concert, "A promenade through 80 years" at St Peters Church, Laleham Road, Staines on 11 September 2010 at 7.30pm. Tickets will be £7 and available on the door. To help make the anniversary Staines Museum has kindly offered to host a temporary display of the bands history later this year, the band will be producing a brochure to accompany the exhibition. The Big Event will take place at Christ Church on Saturday 28th August between 1 and 5pm. There will be lots of activities including games, crafts, tombola, live music, the Christ Church Drama Group, various stalls (cakes, fairtrade etc) and art exhibitions.

"Where is God leading us" will be the theme for the Parish Weekend Away which will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October at Horsley Park near Guildford. Our aim is to discuss and adopt a new Mission Action Plan for the parish for the next 5 to 10 years. The cost is expected to be in the region of £110 full board. There will be opportunities to enjoy the wide range of hotel facilities as well as praying and planning for the future. Please see www.devere.co.uk/our-locations/horsley-park for futher information. Staines Street Angels are about to go out onto the streets of Staines ! However they will need to be well equipped for the job at hand. The Lord will be on their side but they still need a few practical things as well such as:

Boots Travel First Aid Kit
Savlon Blister Plasters
Spare Plaster Packs
Wound Dressings
Small bottles of water
Flip-flops
Tesco Space blanket/ Poncho pack

We warmly welcome Fr. George and Yun Lee to the Parish of Staines. We wish you both well in your new home at Christ Church

Christ Church Mothers Union held their last meeting of summer with a cream tea picnic. Our quests were Fr. George and his wife Yun Lee, Mr & Mrs Kitto from St. Hilda’s MU and Mrs Jenny Churn from St. Peters MU. We meet again in September 8th 2010 at 2.30pm.

The next Messy Church will take place at Christ Church (opposite Matthew Arnold School, Kingston Road) on Saturday 10th July between 2:30 and 5pm. Come and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship and worship. Meet new friends and old ones as we learn more about God’s love for us his, children through craft and the sharing a meal. Children aged 4- 8 and their siblings are welcome but remember to bring an adult with you to join in the fun!

Mothers Union. Our meetings are held once a month on the second Thursday of the month and our meetings start at 8 o'clock. We enjoy good companionship and we try our best to support various projects, including Bronzefield, and Furnish (helping young families with bedding,etc.) We very often have a speaker, and hold a raffle. There are many men that are MU members! So Please Come Along.

We need your support for the Summer Flower Show ! We are planning to hold this at St Peter’s Church. The Theme will be “The Miracles of Christ” Dates to follow If you are prepared to help, either in the planning, exhibiting, or know of any groups who might like to take part then please contact Michael Moulton. We will shortly be replacing the old curtains in the main hall at St Peter's! This is the next stage in the upgrade of the building. We need your help to raise the final £1,000. If you would like to sponsor a curtain please see your church wardens, Jane and Michael, as soon as possible.

Calling All Knitters. I am collecting wool for a knitting class at Bronzefield Prison, so if you have odd balls left over, this would be appreciated. So would you please let me have any contributions you may have. Many thanks. Ruth Manwaring
